The kinds of body modifications being undertaken by modern women.

I have discovered recently that more and more women are acquiring different kinds of extreme body modifications. But just what kind of extreme body modifications are there and what does it involve?
Tattooing of the eye and more specifically the cornea is not only doable, but it has been performed now for over 2,000 years usually to cover scarring. In recent times, it is carried out less for the reason that contact lenses are extremely effectual at concealing such imperfections. On the other hand, not all and sundry can wear contact lenses that's why cosmetic tattooing of the eyes is still practiced.
Next up is an extreme body modification known as “scarification”, and this entails the imaginative and arty placing of scars in a proscribed way to accomplish an aesthetically satisfying outcome. The procedure of scarification involves scars being formed by the wounding of the surface of the skin.
Another extreme body modification that involves the skin is the process known as a sub-dermal implant.
A sub-dermal implant involves the placing of an object beneath the skin for the reason of changing the surface of the skin so that a distinctive shape can be seem raised above the rest of the skin, although there is a risk of irritation to the surface of the skin after the shape has been inserted.
Possibly the most excruciating of all body modifications is something known as “branding”. This involves an iron being heated to a temperature that is hot enough to cause a severe burn when it comes in contact with the surface of the skin. The iron will be made to a specific design of the choosing of the person receiving the branding before it is heated.
All of the above methods of extreme body modification are becoming more popular among women in the Western hemisphere these days and it is only going to gain in popularity in the future.

The popularity of body modification among teenage girls

Of late I have been observing all types of body modification amongst teenage girls and here are some of the most popular styles explained:
Body piercings are very popular and depending on which part of the country you are resident in, the most popular areas of the body that are chosen to be pierced differ. However the most popular areas of the body to be pierced include the belly button, the nose, the lip, the tongue and the eyebrows.
Trans dermal Implants are becoming more popular amongst teenage girls and entail the placing of an object beneath the skin, but one that still exits the body at one or two places.
Ear gauges are utilized to stretch a normal ear piercing to a larger size by the use of larger and larger inserts. These are relatively all the rage within the music industry and a lot of teenagers in inner-city areas have taken up the style although they are more prevalent amongst males.
Tattoos of course have been around for a centuries and remain a popular choice of body modification amongst teens.
So the question that needs to be asked is just why are teenagers and more specifically girls modifying their bodies? Well one of the main reasons is that a large number of them see body modifications as a form of self-expression, it gives them a chance to show off their individuality, something that teenagers find important.
I think that everyone should be able to express their individuality in any way they see fit, however, those teens who go for the more extreme and permanent forms of body modification are a concern and they need to understand that they are marking their bodies permanently. Plus some companies look harshly on people who are covered in too many or some of the more extravagant kinds of body modifications and overlook them for vacancies within their company.

Tightlacing a new and possibly dangerous body modification for women

On a planet crammed with millions of inhabitants, it comes as no surprise that an awareness of uniqueness can be difficult to achieve. For those members of the public that do not want to limit their body modification to merely tattooing, some more drastic forms of body modification have started to become more popular. Lately on the news bulletins a new trend has started to make the headlines and that trend is the ‘bagel head’. However, bagel heads are not the only type of extreme body modification that some women undertake and certainly not the most dangerous.
The negative consequence of a lot of the extreme body modification methods have not yet been established, but as a greater number of people endeavor to be noticeable in a crowd, the health problems connected to body modification are certain to be known soon.
A woman wearing a corset to tuck in their stomach for that hourglass figure has become all but obsolete since women stopped wearing ball gowns. However, an extreme version of this has become more and more popular amongst some female body modification aficionado’s, its name is tightlacing.

Tightlacing is an extreme version of a recent trend called shapewear, where clothes are used to sculpt the body, tightlacing is something that is usually practiced from an early age and leaves the body permanently shaped. This entails the use of a corset that is tightened to such an extent that the internal organs are actually squashed together and some doctors say that this could cause serious long term health problems for the women who practice this kind of body modification.
Some of the internal organs likely to be affected include the diaphragm as this loses its ability to be effective when breathing. The liver can become misshaped and the intestines and bowel become compressed meaning that digestion can be affected also.

Simple Body Mods

I have always been one to shy away from doing things outside the norm, even when a lot of my friends have always done things to stand out. I have a number of girlfriends that have gotten different forms of body modifications over the years. Of course, all of us have the most common form, which are pierced ears. I have three holes in each of my ears and a cuff on one ear. That is about as extreme as I have ever wanted to go when it came to body mods. I just don’t like the idea of doing any serious permanent damage to my body.

I have one girlfriend who recently came over to hang out to show me her new plugs she got for her stretched ears. I don’t think I could ever stretch my earlobes out like she has, but I have to admit I actually really do like how her new plugs look in her ears. She has a variety of them, from girly to simple solid colors. I asked her how big she was going to go, but she said she does not intend to stretch her ears out too far. She decided that she wanted to stretch them out enough to add a special accent to her body. She wanted to do something special to make herself stand out and typical ear piercings weren’t enough for her.

Another one of our girlfriends has gotten a number of piercings done. She has her ears, nose, tongue, and her nipples pierced. I do admit I wouldn’t mind getting my belly button pierced, but getting my nipples pierced isn’t an option for me. Personally, I think that would be way too painful a procedure, my friend didn’t think that it was too bad. She said it was rather uncomfortable when she was going through the healing process, but now she loves them. My friends and I do agree on one thing. No matter what decision a person makes when it comes to the form of body modification that they do, it should be accepted, we are all individuals.
